Description

GEOLITE

Certified, eco-friendly mineral geo-mortar based on a crystalline-reaction geobinder for passivation, repair, smoothing, and monolithic protection of degraded concrete structures, ideal for GreenBuilding. Very low petrochemical polymer content, free of organic fibers. Thixotropic, normal setting.

GeoLite is a thixotropic geomortar for passivating, restoring, leveling, and protecting reinforced concrete structures such as beams, pillars, slabs, facings, ramps, exposed facades, decorative elements, cornices, and infrastructure such as bridges, viaducts, tunnels, and water channels. It is suitable as an inorganic mineral matrix for use with GeoSteel galvanized steel fabrics in certified structural reinforcement, improvement, and seismic retrofit systems.

PLUS PRODUCT

  • GEOLEGANTThe exclusive use of the innovative Kerakoll geobinder revolutionizes concrete repair mortars, guaranteeing unprecedented levels of safety and unique eco-friendly performance.
  • MONOLITHICThe first geomortar that allows the formation of a monolithic mass capable of enveloping, protecting, and reinforcing reinforced concrete structures without the need for multiple overlapping layers. The only one certified for passivating, rebuilding, leveling, smoothing, and protecting in a single layer.
  • CRYSTALLIZINGGeoLite's naturally stable monolithic restorations crystallize into concrete, ensuring the durability of a mineral rock.
  • SUPPORTThe first geomortar that requires just one day of work to complete a complete repair, compared to the six days required for traditional repair mortar cycles that require multiple layers.
  • TAILOREDThe first line of geomortars with differentiated setting times (> 80 – 40 – 10 min.) that can be mixed together to customize the setting times according to the construction site conditions.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Intended use

Passivation, localized and generalized restoration, smoothing and monolithic protection of reinforced concrete structures such as beams, pillars, slabs, fascias, ramps, exposed facades, decorative elements, cornices and infrastructure works such as bridges, viaducts, tunnels and hydraulic channels.

Specifically designed for medium to large-scale projects, machine applications, and smoothing large surfaces. Suitable as an inorganic mineral matrix in certified composite reinforcement systems from the GeoSteel line for the static and seismic retrofitting or improvement of reinforced concrete structural elements. Ideal for GreenBuilding and the Restoration of Modern Architecture.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Preparation of the supports

Before applying GeoLite, the concrete substrate must be cleaned and roughened to a minimum of 5 mm, equivalent to grade 8 of the Concrete and Masonry Substrate Preparation Test Kit, using mechanical scarification or hydrodemolition, ensuring thorough removal of any damaged concrete. Rust must then be removed from the reinforcing bars, which must be cleaned by brushing (manual or mechanical) or sandblasting. The treated surface must then be cleaned with compressed air or a pressure washer and thoroughly wetted until the substrate is saturated but free of liquid water on the surface. As an alternative to wetting with water, on horizontal concrete surfaces, applying GeoLite Base on a dry substrate ensures regular absorption and promotes the natural crystallization of the geo-mortar. Before applying GeoLite, verify the suitability of the substrate's strength class. Thick coatings on large surfaces: the application of a contrasting metal reinforcement anchored to the substrate by means of dowels is required.

Preparation

GeoLite is prepared by mixing 25 kg of powder with the water indicated on the package (it is recommended to use the entire contents of each bag). The mix can be prepared in a cement mixer, stirring until a smooth, lump-free mortar is obtained; a suitable mixing machine can also be used, followed by spraying. For small quantities, mix the product in a bucket using a low-speed drill with a whisk attachment. Store the material away from sources of humidity and in a place protected from direct sunlight.

Application

For localized and/or generalized repairs, which involve applying GeoLite in thicknesses ranging from 2 to 40 mm (maximum per layer), apply the mortar manually with a trowel or using a spraying machine. For a protective finish, apply GeoLite manually (with a steel trowel) or by machine in thicknesses no less than 2 mm, after roughening the surfaces to a roughness of 1–2 mm.

Mechanized application: we recommend using a worm screw plastering machine (type Turbosol or Putzmeister) or a three-phase continuous cycle mixing pump (type PFT G4) equipped with the following accessories: mixer, stator/rotor D 6-3 (flow rate 22 ℓ/min), material hose Ø 25 mm, length 10 – 15 m and spray lance.

GeoSteel SRG systems applicationFor structural reinforcement systems in which GeoLite acts as an inorganic mineral matrix, apply a first coat of geo-mortar, ensuring that the substrate (properly prepared) has enough material (minimum thickness 5–8 mm) to even it out and to accommodate and embed the reinforcing mesh. Once the steel mesh has been applied, apply a second coat to fully embed the reinforcement and fill any underlying voids.

Always wet cure the surfaces for at least 24 hours.

Cleaning

Cleaning of tools and machines from GeoLite residues is carried out with water before the product hardens.
